Daisy is currently building her career in the information field through work focused on Indigenous data governance, health information, and community-informed systems. Her goal is to continue developing the skills and experience needed to support Indigenous-led information management, strengthen data sovereignty, and contribute to systems that are accountable to community priorities.

Daisy is currently enrolled in the Master of Information Program at Dalhousie University. She holds a BA in Psychology & Native Studies with a Minor in Criminology from St. Thomas University; a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of New Brunswick; a Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Counselling from the University of New Brunswick; and a Cybersecurity Technician diploma from le Collège Communautaire du Nouveau-Brunswick.

Receiving this Grant will enable Daisy to participate in the 2027 International Conference on Information Systems Security and Privacy (ICISSP) Conference from February 22-24, 2027, in Malta. Attending the ICISSP conference will help her expand her knowledge, connect with other professionals in the field, particularly with others working in Indigenous information and library, archive, and knowledge systems, and bring back ideas that can support her work and future career development.

Daisy’s connection to her community is central to her work and her goals. She is committed to using her education and professional experience to support Wabanaki communities through respectful, community-informed practices. As a Mi’kmaw academic, the knowledge that she will gain from this conference will strengthen her ability to contribute to work that is grounded in our ways of being. Daisy hopes to present the same abstract to as many kin in her community before and after the conference to ensure they stay informed as she begins her journey.

The CAAL-CBPA Indigenous Professional Development Grant, in the amount of $1,000, supports self-identifying Indigenous Peoples in the Atlantic Region who are either pursuing information management careers, or working in information management at a CAAL-CBPA member library.
