Purpose<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

In order to redress the legacy of residential schools in Canada and advance the process of meaningful reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples (First Nations, M\u00e9tis and Inuit[1]<\/span><\/sup><\/span><\/sup><\/a>), the CFLA-FCAB Truth and Reconciliation Committee<\/a>, in response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada report, developed ten recommendations to help guide libraries in playing an active role in this process.\u00a0 <\/span>As holders of cultural memory, and enablers of information literacy, libraries have a key role to play in advancing truth and reconciliation.

The Reconciliation Committee (RC) focuses on advancing several of CAAL-CBPA\u2019s strategic goals, particularly the development of a comprehensive strategy across CAAL-CBPA to facilitate the actualization of the CFLA-FCAB TRC Report recommendations at member institutions.

The Reconciliation Committee also publishes The Shared Ground Bulletin<\/a><\/em>, a\u00a0monthly publication from the Committee that aims to communicate and support the committee\u2019s ongoing work towards reconciliation aims.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n
