Macdonald Library, St. Francis Xavier University; Erica Nekolaichuk, Faculty Liaison &amp; Instruction Librarian, Gerstein Science Information Centre, University of Toronto; and Zahra Premji, Health Research Librarian, University of Victoria Libraries, have been awarded $1,000 to help support their project, <em>GenAI&nbsp;in Knowledge Synthesis: Understanding Current Search Practices<\/em>.<\/p><br><p><img decoding=\"async\" pl-media-id=\"2302\" src=\"https:\/\/caal-cbpa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/kaitlin-fuller_sm1.png\" alt=\"Photo of Kaitlin Fuller\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" pl-media-id=\"2301\" src=\"https:\/\/caal-cbpa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/Erica-Nekolaichuk_Headshot_sm1.png\" alt=\"Photo of Erica Nekolaichuk\">&nbsp;&nbsp;<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/caal-cbpa.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/ZahraPremjiProfilePicOption1b_sm1.png\"><\/p><br><p>In their proposal, Kaitlin, Erica, and Zahra propose to establish a foundational understanding of how generative AI is being integrated into knowledge synthesis&nbsp;(KS) search practices:<\/p><br><ul><li>First, by documenting what knowledge synthesis authors are currently doing and reporting in published KS. This will be done through a scoping review.<\/li><\/ul><br><ul><li>Second, by exploring how health sciences librarians, as key information retrieval experts, are adopting and\/or teaching these tools in their collaboration and\/or consultative roles. This will be done through an online survey.<\/li><\/ul><br><p>The CAAL-CBPA Research Grant is intended to encourage research by librarians and staff working in academic libraries in the region through projects which involve structured, evidence-based research.
